Most of our postgraduate research students are registered on a PhD programme of study (typically 3 years full-time duration) although a small number opt for an MPhil programme (typically 2 years full-time duration). Prospective students who would like to undertake research study on a part-time basis e.g. those working in industry are also very welcome to apply.

Our academic staff are very pleased to help prospective students develop their research proposals as part of their application process. We are also very happy for prospective research students to visit the Department to see the facilities and to meet academic staff and research students.
